Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Procurement to oversee the sourcing and timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services for the smooth operation and maintenance of our thermal power plant. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, and power sector requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Material and Service Procurement

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for plant operation and maintenance needs.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, contracts, and agreements as per project requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery timelines to ensure cost efficiency and quality.

2. Vendor and Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Track and evaluate supplier performance in terms of delivery, quality, and reliability.
  • Identify and onboard new vendors to enhance sourcing capabilities.

3. Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and statutory regulations.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of contracts, purchase transactions, and supplier correspondence.
  • Prepare periodic procurement reports on costs, budgets, and vendor performance metrics.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to forecast and fulfill material and service requirements.
  • Ensure smooth communication between procurement and other departments to support plant uptime and efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualification: B. Tech (Any discipline).
  • Industry: Preferably from the Power Sector.
  • Experience: 5–8 years in procurement, with experience in thermal power plant equipment, spares, and maintenance preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in SAP (MM module).
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on cost optimization and operational efficiency.
