Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced AWS Database Engineer with strong expertise in Aurora and Python scripting to manage, automate, and optimize cloud-based database environments. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring database reliability, performance, and scalability while working closely with global onshore teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor, and maintain AWS-based database environments, primarily Amazon Aurora
- Develop and maintain Python scripts for database automation, monitoring, and operational tasks
- Perform backup management, recovery testing, and disaster recovery planning
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance and availability issues
- Coordinate with onshore/global teams for requirements gathering, status updates, and issue resolution
- Ensure high availability, security, and compliance of database systems
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for database operations and automation
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of overall IT experience with strong focus on AWS database services
- Hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora and AWS RDS
- Strong Python scripting skills (mandatory)
- Solid understanding of relational database concepts and operations
- Experience handling backup, recovery, and DR strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with global stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Nice to Have
- Exposure to multi-cloud environments
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of database performance tuning and automation frameworks
