Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Printer Hardware & BarTender Integration Technician to support enterprise label-printing environments. The role focuses on thermal printer hardware configuration, troubleshooting, and seamless integration with BarTender label-printing solutions. This position requires strong hands-on expertise in printer hardware, connectivity, and print performance, working closely with IT, BarTender developers, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Printer Hardware Configuration & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and maintain thermal label printers and associated hardware components.
- Manage printer firmware upgrades, driver installations, and version compatibility.
- Configure printers for optimal DPI, media type, ribbon selection, and print quality.
- Ensure hardware setups comply with enterprise operational and performance standards.
2. Printer Connectivity & Performance Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve printer connectivity issues across USB, LAN, and wireless networks.
- Troubleshoot print quality issues including misalignment, barcode readability, slow printing, and queue failures.
- Collaborate with IT teams to resolve network, IP conflicts, print server, and spooler-related issues.
- Identify root causes, document findings, and implement preventive maintenance measures to minimize downtime.
3. BarTender Solution Integration Support
- Support integration of printer hardware with BarTender label-printing solutions.
- Validate printer configurations for BarTender templates, workflows, and data sources.
- Assist in label output testing to ensure accuracy, compliance, and scan readability.
- Work closely with BarTender developers, IT infrastructure, and operations teams to resolve print-related issues.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with thermal label printers, preferably Honeywell.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, drivers, print quality, and network connectivity.
- Familiarity with BarTender or similar label-printing software platforms.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and configuration guides.
- Experience managing Windows print servers, printer queues, and device management tools.
Preferred Skills
- Basic knowledge of BarTender Designer or Print Station.
- Understanding of barcode printing standards and best practices.
- Exposure to enterprise IT environments, including Active Directory, networking protocols, and VPNs.
- Strong documentation, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
