About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Thermal Management) to join our dynamic Vehicle Technology team at Volvo Group. You will play a key role in developing next-generation sustainable transport solutions through advanced thermal management and embedded software development.
About the Team
The Thermal Management Department is responsible for designing and maintaining optimized cab climate, cooling, and heating systems for multiple truck brands within Volvo Group. The team collaborates across global sites — Gothenburg, Bengaluru, Greensboro, and Lyon — to deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions through shared technology and advanced engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Cabin Climate Control software (Driver/IO/Application/Parameter calibration).
- Create system software requirements, time plans, and module roadmaps.
- Independently lead tasks and mentor junior engineers.
- Design and implement I/O and application software for embedded devices (HVAC, cooling, and heating systems).
- Develop control logic systems (Feed-forward and feedback).
- Conduct diagnostic logic software development and performance optimization.
- Validate and integrate new product designs and provide post-production support.
- Collaborate with hardware, system, and component engineers to define software actions in FMEA.
- Support cross-functional teams with AI/ML-based control logic implementations.
- Establish and maintain a strong global network across teams.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education:

BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Science.
Experience:
-
Minimum 8+ years in Automotive Embedded Software Development, ideally within distributed systems and thermal management.
Technical Expertise:
- MATLAB, Simulink, Embedded C, ASPICE processes.
- Hands-on experience in embedded control software design and debugging.
- Strong knowledge of RTOS, multitasking, and embedded system design.
- Excellent coding, IP protocols, and hardware subsystem understanding.
- Strong testing, debugging, and documentation skills.
Additional Knowledge:
- Familiarity with software configuration management, defect tracking tools, and peer review processes.
- Understanding of schematics, component data sheets, and product development lifecycles.
- Exposure to e-Mobility, Fuel Cell, and Automation software technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
