Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead – Power Electronics to join our Bangalore-based R&D center. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of power electronics for SolarEdge’s advanced energy systems. You will contribute to cutting-edge product development that directly supports the company’s vision of making solar energy more efficient, reliable, and accessible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and analysis of advanced power converters and power systems for solar inverters, power optimizers, and energy storage products.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware teams to ensure cohesive product development.
  • Drive product innovation, system optimization, and technical excellence across R&D activities.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, providing expert input to elevate product reliability and efficiency.
  • Conduct circuit-level analysis, power system modeling, and simulations (PSpice, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Perform system-level studies such as load flow, transient stability, and harmonic analysis.
  • Optimize designs for high-efficiency, EMI/EMC compliance, and thermal performance.
  • Guide PCB layout practices to meet creepage/clearance, thermal, and high-current design standards.
  • Support DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and coordinate with suppliers and production teams for smooth mass production.
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety and regulatory standards.
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers to foster innovation and teamwork.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (M.E./M.Tech) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with a focus on Power Electronics or Power Systems.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in power electronics design and system integration—preferably in solar, renewables, or energy systems.

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep knowledge of power converter topologies – DC-DC, DC-AC, AC-DC (resonant, bi-directional, grid-tied).
  • Proficient in power semiconductor devices including SiC and GaN.
  • Hands-on experience in gate driver design, magnetics, and high-frequency switching design.
  • Skilled in using simulation tools like PSpice, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Strong understanding of PCB design for high-voltage and high-current applications.
  • Knowledge of thermal management, impedance control, component placement, and signal integrity.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation and regulatory certification compliance.
  • Familiarity with international power safety standards (e.g., IEC, UL).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
