Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build, optimize, and maintain scalable data infrastructure solutions. This role focuses on designing robust data pipelines, integrating diverse data sources, and collaborating with product engineering teams to support Skillsoft’s data needs. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in ETL systems, SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud platforms (AWS), and is skilled at translating business requirements into efficient, production-ready data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable data infrastructure solutions.
  • Design, optimize, and manage data pipelines for multiple sources.
  • Integrate new data sources into existing data architecture.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional product engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver on data needs.
  • Make pragmatic engineering decisions quickly to balance efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Participate in project planning, requirement gathering, and translating business needs into technical solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5 years in building and maintaining large-scale ETL systems.

Technical Expertise:

  • SQL & NoSQL databases
  • Python programming
  • Cloud platforms (AWS)
  • Data warehousing skills and writing efficient queries
  • Strong database design and data structures knowledge.
  • Proven ability to gather requirements, manage projects, and deliver solutions across teams.

Preferred / Standout Skills

  • Experience with Apache Airflow, Snowflake, dbt, FastAPI, S3, Looker.
  • Knowledge of Kafka, Kafka Connect, Spark, or other streaming technologies.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Postgres, MongoDB.
  • Comfort with containerization tools: Docker, Kubernetes.
